Bassenthwaite Cloud Inversion

Location: Latrigg Summit
Cloud inversions normally happen in the morning and can last a minute or an hour but I’ve rarely seen them towards late afternoon. So you can imagine my surprise when I looked out of my lounge window and saw the beginnings of one about an hour before sunset. I rushed to the summit of Latrigg and watched this event unfold in front of me. The inversion coupled with the dramatic sunset and the few sheep grazing on the fell side brought the image together.
