Morning reflections at Bassenthwaite

Location: From the jetty at the Bassenthwaite sailing club.
Bassenthwaite Lake lies only ten minutes from our timber lodge near Keswick so this is a great place for me to get really early morning shots.
I took this image at dawn from one of the jetties at Bassenthwaite Sailing Club on the northern shore of the lake near Armathwaite Hall. The little boat is the sailing club’s rescue boat which I’ve seen in action often at the famous Bass Week regatta held there each summer. I love how the mist appears to ‘dance’ over the lake and the fell seen behind above the clouds is Dodd. In amongst the woods there is a new osprey viewing point which has been constructed since the ospreys changed nesting sites in 2008.
