Puffin coming in to land on Outer Farne

Location: Outer Farne Island off the North East coast of England
Sheila and I decided to go on a day’s trip to Inner Farne. It was a perfect day for the trip which we both were thankful for due to our lack of sea legs !! We picked a great time to go as the puffins and arctic terns were very active feeding young with sand eels and small fish. I was worried at first as to whether I would be able to capture these birds with just a 100 - 400 mm lens but I needn’t had worried. These birds were just feet away from us and in fact if you got too close then they would ‘dive bomb’ you forcing you away from their patch. This is one of my favourite shots from the day. It’s always been an ambition of mine to capture a puffin with sand eels in it’s mouth, so was very pleased to capture this image.
