Rainbow at sunset over Wasdale

Location: From the shores of Wastwater
All photographers know that you have to be in the right place at the right time. So when I was at a crossroads having just come over Hardknott pass I wanted to turn left and go back to our lodge at Bassenthwaite but my wife Sheila said how about going to Wasdale to see if we could get a nice sunset. I must admit I wasn’t bothered but reluctantly agreed and set off for Wasdale. We were there for only about 10 minutes when this absolutely stunning full rainbow appeared fully over Wastwater. It is one spectacle that will last a life time in my memory and a decision that I have thanked my wife on more than one occasion !! You can image my nervousness on the way home—did I put a card in my camera, have I got the exposure right, is it in focus - the list goes on. Boy was I relieved when this image popped out of the camera !!
