Boxing Day snow at Castlerigg Stone Circle
Having waited for snow all year it eventually came on Boxing Day when everyone should be at home enjoying Christmas with their families. I managed to sneak a few hours with my camera and headed straight for the famous Castlerigg Stone Circle near Keswick. As it was Boxing Day it was fairly quiet so I was able to take a few photographs of the stone circle with Blencathra behind it. Although it was still very early, people had already been there before me as many footprints were clearly visible in the snow. What makes this image for me is the cloud formation hanging over the top of Blencathra and the way that the sun has just lit up Halls Fell ridge.
