Chimney Rock at Capitol Reef

The Chimney Rock Trail is named after Chimney Rock at Capitol Reef, an impressive pinnacle of Moenkopi Shale that rises from the desert. The trail begins with a short strenuous switchback path that leads to the top of the mesa and then becomes an easier loop hike around the top of the mesa. The hike gives you outstanding views of both Chimney Rock itself and the surrounding countryside.
